I didn't realise when I started this book that it was the second in a series featuring the same characters. It does read okay as a stand alone book, however I did feel that I missed some background on the characters and therefore didn't feel quite so invested in them. Having said that, it was still a great read. You are taken on twists and turns to discover the truth behind Charlie and the events that have happened. You're never really sure who is the good guy and who is the bad guy so this makes for an interesting read that keeps you hooked. I had to keep reminding myself that the team you are following are newspaper journalists, as they are the ones that are trying to solve the crime, you do wonder what the police are doing!
