This is the second of S.W.Perry's sixteenth century tales with Nicholas Shelby I have read and I loved it. Once again Nicholas is embroiled in a dangerous plot, this time involving Marrakech and London. Sixteenth century London is obviously not the place to be if you have not got a strong constitution. It was very dangerous to be involved in any way with powerful people of the time. Nicholas and Bianca once again are not sure who to trust. Nicholas has no choice but to undertake a journey he is forced into with threats. They part under bad terms with misunderstandings between them. This is the time of the plague and Bianca and her friends are in danger from that while Nicholas is caught up in some very nasty murders, among other things. Perry mixes fact with his fiction and evokes the times very well. Great twists in the plot, well worth a read.
