This is the third historical novel set in Elizabethan England featuring Nicholas Shelby and Bianca Merton. I fear it may be the last as all the loose ends are neatly tied up at the end Of this book but I hope it isn’t and there’ll be further sequels.
I love these books of espionage detailing early medical procedures all mixed up with the popular myths and superstitions of the times. In this book the plague and the issue of slavery are prominent which eerily resonated with the present times of Covid lockdown and Black Lives Matter protests which we are currently living through over 400 years later.
The parts of the story set in Marrakesh dragged a bit and the many characters with similar sounding names got a bit confusing but I loved the parts set in London.
