This is a book from a genre I would not usually read. However, I really enjoyed it. I loved how it was set in Essex in the 1960s, a time period known to be full of life and a lot of change. I found it fascinating to look at how much the world has changed since then, and how today was shaped.
The mention of the clothes, Mods and Rockers, diners, and the roles of women at the time really gave the book authenticity and helped you to immerse yourself in the world of the 1960s (even if you weren’t actually alive yet to remember it like me!)
I probably wouldn’t recommend this book to anybody I know, and I likely won’t be reading anything of this genre again, or at least not for a while, but it wasn’t a bad book overall.
