I was really looking forward to this book as I enjoy historical thrillers. But this did not come up to my expectations. The story is mediocre and some situations are not fully believable. Unlike other authors of historical novels (C J Sansom for example) the descriptions of the time did not transport me to that time as other novels have. The characters English spy Attica Morgan and her partner pirate Jemmy Avery reminded me of my childhood days at the Saturday morning children,s cinema where there are "goodies" and "baddies" battling it out with the "goodies " always winning. I was hoping for more historical facts about the French revaluation and the fall of the Basille prison and found this lacking. Its not a book I would recommend to those who really enjoy historical thrillers
