As I said in my First impressions I liked the feel of the book and was hoping to borrow it from the local library.

So it came a a surprise when I won it in the Readers First Draw. Being a creature of habit I had to read the first book in the series, The Bastille Spy first and had to wait to borrow it. Finally when I could borrow it I read it as quickly as I could and got a good feel for the main characters from it.

So with the deadline approaching to put in this review I still had some 150 pages to read when the reminder came in. But I will say it like the first book was very enjoyable. I have read a lot of Napoleonic books, Simon Scarrow Revolution Quartet, Dennis Wheatley Roger Brook Series, Alexander Kent Bolitho series to name a few but none started as early in the French Revolution. This book certainly shows what a creepy person Robespierre was.

I am now awaiting the next installment in anticipation.
