People's lives are never as straightforward as they seem.

The opening of 'The Secrets of Strangers' is a fascinating combination of detail and drama. The well written introduction of a trio of characters from all walks of life suggests that an aim of the book may be to encourage social
cohesion and philanthropy. It would seem that each character, no matter who they are or where they come from, has difficulties in their lives that they need to overcome or learn to accept, a particularly appropriate comment in the current social climate. None of these characters appear to fully conform to their stereotypes which is an interesting hint that things may not be as the reader expects throughout the book as a whole. I for one can't wait to see how the characters react when their lives collide in an extreme and violent way! What happens next?
