Five strangers are going about their usual morning routine in a London cafe when a crazed gunman holds them hostage until he gets to see his ex and daughter. As the situation develops the reader learns about the five strangers as The Secrets of Strangers is a great exploration of character, inner demons and deceit.
When I read the synopsis of this novel I was intrigued but I thought it would be one of those books that promise everything but don't deliver however this novel went into so much depth, it was fast paced and electrifying. Throughout the novel we learn who each of the hostages are but I don't want to spoil any of that as I think that's the exciting element of the book that really had me hooked. As the book comes to an end there is a sudden saddness that is looming and the tension is high, you will feel all sort of emotions reading this book and this is down to the sharpness of the characters and how they're developed.
