I was slow to get into this book, but that was mostly external influences rather than the book being a slow starter. Once I was able to give it my full attention I was hooked and finished it in a day.
It's beautifully written from several different perspectives, every character is carefully considered and has a depth that kept me engrossed. The author is very clever and builds each character gradually, allowing you to develop these preconceptions that are then turned on their head as you learn more. You find yourself sympathising with characters you wouldn't normally sympathise with within this genre.
As the book draws to it's conclusion, the author takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions and keeps you guessing about how it may end. There was more than one tear shed while reading this book, something that hasn't happened to me while reading for an awfully long time. Definitely worth a read.
