I loved this. It wasn't an easy read as it explores a lot of difficult topics. The story is about 3 strangers who are held hostage in a cafe after the owner is shot. Over the course of the book we find out more details about each character and their motivations, some of which they share with the group. It is really interesting how they become a little community while trapped in the cafe. We get to hear the hostage taker, Sam's story in a lot of detail which is absolutely heart breaking. The story really got me thinking about right and wrong and at what point a person who has had a terrible experience needs to take responsibility for their own actions. I liked that we also get a glimpse of the hostage negotiator, Eliza's life. Overall an excellent read with a few interesting twists and turns.
