I really enjoyed the second book in this series, having already read the first one a year or so ago. It was full of interesting historical references and had obviously been quite heavily researched. However, the characters were very realistic, likeable and in some ways very modern. You could really get behind them and hope that they would somehow find their way out of the situations they ended up in.
The historical setting wasn’t off-putting like some can be because the writing style was so good that it was easy to read and enjoy.
The plot had a fair few twists and turns that kept you guessing. Particularly when you were wondering how on Earth they were going to get out of some of the situations.
