I enjoyed this first impression, even though it was a long read! If this is the first instalment, then there is going to be some amount of reading in this series...
I like the fact the author is fascinated with 17th century Europe and the Thirty Years War, but has still been bold enough to play 'fast and loose' with the facts. I would be interested in reading more about the vast cast of characters listed at the start of the book.
