The cover of this book didn't really appeal to me as it seems to similar to so many seen before. That said the opening pages were intriguing. I did not like the chapter index, it made me feel like I was opening a text book, nor was I the biggest fan of the authors note which felt somewhat unnecessarily long and self indulgent. That said I loved the character cast, the maps and the images at the start of chapters.
Despite getting g quite a sizable sample of this book I have no idea where it is going to go, which intrigues me further....I want to read on. Despite some initial reservations it has definitely drawn me in.
