My First Impression was that I found it a bit heavy going but I was willing to give it a try to read the full novel.
I was fortunate to win a copy and from the first page I couldn't put it down. I would say that it is the best Historical Fiction book I have read for a very long time.
Although in places it seemed to be swapping about with people and places, albeit the changes lasted for a whole chapter before changing again, I found that these changes kept me interested in the story line right to the very end. I felt the the descriptions placed me in the situation where and I could imagine what it was like in those times. I can certainly imagine all the politics that occurred especially if you had money or titles. I am glad it is not totally like that today.
As I have described in the title my First Impression has been exploded but left me with a good feeling about the book.
