Confusing genres

The title of the book really appealled and the book cover confirmed this sounded like a gripping read. The story started well, a mystery surrounding a missing girl and her connection to the title character, where what mysteries were made of. Erma has taken it upon herself to find out where Jenny had vanished to, an entirely self centred search in order to clear her own name. Erma is not the most likeable character and I have to admit this did somewhat put me off the story as I was not rooting for her at all. The book was well written and this was the redeeming feature as the book was seemingly in two sections, the first a mystery to search for the truth and the second was more of a fantasy story that required a lot more attention, so much more that I did get quite lost and had to reread some areas. Although books need a good second half that requires thought I felt this one was a little too far as it seemed to completely switch genres and was a lot more stilted.
