I started this book with extremely high hopes for both the characters and the plot as a whole. It looked like another crime/mystery book with some thrill. After reading several of these recently, I struggled to see where I wouldn’t enjoy it.
I struggle to pinpoint exactly why this book wasn’t as enjoyable as I’d hoped. Potentially it was simply due to the action seeming rushed in the first 50 pages and then seemingly plateauing. The main character wasn’t overly developed and I struggled to connect with both her, and her emotions towards others.
On the upside, it had great potential and hopefully another book will be released by this author in the future and it will be a breakthrough book that I thoroughly enjoy - I will keep an eye out for it.
Despite putting this book down, it wasn’t abysmal, but rather ordinary and is by no means a reason to be disappointed by the author.
