This book just wasn’t for me. I started off enjoying it, lots of questions quite fast paced and with a head strong female lead. However about 30 pages in the narrative changed from first person to second person which really threw me. To make it more complicated, this second person narrative switched genres and I found myself reading a fantasy rather than the mystery/thriller I thought I was getting. If you’re someone who reads and enjoys fantasy, I’m sure this won’t bother you but for me it was too jumpy and I couldn’t get into it at all. I found myself skimming these sections so I could get back to the first person narrative.

Whilst I started off liking Erma and her irrationality, she quickly began to annoy me. I tried to reason that it was because of the trauma she experienced which understandably left her with questions but she just really irritated me. I didn’t think she was a likable character at all which wouldn’t be a bad thing if I was enjoying her story. Unfortunately, I was bored by that too. Overall, I just found this book to be a little bit disappointing and decided to DNF after 150 pages.
