A tale of the forgotten women left bereaved by the war.

Belinda's fiancé died in 1918 and four years later she is still dressed in black and is living with his mother and grandmother. Belinda longs however to move forward with her life by at least ditching the colour black in favour of something else. A chance meeting with her old teacher leads to her beginning to re-evaluate what she wants to achieve in life - could she leave the mill and find other work? Should she continue to support her mother, father and siblings even though they treat her like dirt? Life is not simple for Belinda as she makes her choices.
