Another historical novel from Minette Walters is such a treat! I like the plain formal cover with its evocative illustrations. The beginning of the book giving the historical context and a map is useful. The writing is very immediate, giving such minute graphic detail that it makes the scene almost real enough to step into. With the suggestion of an independent woman with an interesting occupation living in turbulent times, I feel certain I will thoroughly enjoy this novel.
