Well not sure what to say about this that isn't already covered by my subject heading. I have never read anything by this author before and I was absolutely and totally hooked from the beginning.

I couldn't put this book down. From the beginning of the book you are given a bit of history about the civil war in the 1600s with King Charles and Parliament. The book takes you on a journey through this time whilst following the story of a female physician. Although, at that time women were seen as inferior and she was not allowed to be called a doctor.

Her journey is one of struggling to be seen as a doctor but also how she converts those around here, and is thrown into the war. She is neutral and helps those in need. Through this you see the atrocity of war, how women were equal to men in all but name and a love that starts off slowly.

There's intrigue in here and emotion. It really is a fantastic read.
