This is such a great read I was really impressed with it. Set in Dorset in 1642 and around the time of the Civil War in England, I was really interested to learn about this time in history as I was not aware of events around this time. I felt that I learnt a lot and I felt that the author had researched this time very well. I thought the story was well written and I liked the character developments. The story follows character called Jayne Swift who is a Doctor which I believe was really rare at this time. The novel also follows a character called William Harriet who is a rather mysterious character and he appears in the story in different guises and Willam and Jayne cross paths on many occasions and it was intriguing to read how these two characters progressed in the story and their relationship developed. I would recommend this story if you enjoy historical fiction and romance.
