The story takes place as a country’s military dictator is shutting his country down to any outside influence.
It follows Father Joaquim Martinez who left Portugal to make Hizen Province, Japan his home and has been quietly tending to the lives of his villagers, but everything is about to be thrown into turmoil, after being outlawed by the dictator due to Martinez’s beliefs.
Those who won’t accept banishment, face a death sentence.
Father Martinez must decide if he is willing to risk everything, to save those he has sworn to protect.
This definately wasn't my kind of book
Whilst I could see the appeal, it wasn't one I would normally read and I struggled getting into it.
Whilst it wasn't a book I really enjoyed, it wasn't bad
