The Swords of Silence is not a book I would usually pick up so when I won a copy on Reader's First I was a bit apprehensive. However, The Swords of Silence did exceed my expectations. I loved learning about the history and Japan and all the different weapons used. The story was quite violent and glory but that reflects the time period. I liked the plot and thee characters were intriguing. Parts of the story were a bit slow but overall I read this book in a few days. I like the cover of the book also as it really reflects the story inside. I am looking forward to the sequel. As I was reading The Swords of Silence I wasn't necessarily urged to carry on with the story but I did continue reading and in the end I though it was a well rounded, historical fiction book. I have never read anything by Shaun Curry before so it was a pleasant surprise. I would recommend this book.
