I actually really enjoyed this book - it was quite different to what I was expecting in that I thought it would be fast paced and full of action. Parts certainly were action-packed but overall the pace was steady. In my opinion, this somehow didn’t negatively affect the book because I felt that it was so well researched and meticulous that it gripped me in a different way. I really felt the moral dilemmas that he characters faced. I’m already looking forward to the next book in the trilogy - I want to know what happens! I would recommend this book on more of a historical basis rather than action. Overall, an interesting, gripping and well paced book which I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.
