I’ve read quite a few books set during the holocaust, (mischling, this time last year) no matter how much I’ve read, the horrors revealed each time, never fail to shock me. Branding another human being as property is one of the most inhumane acts I can imagine, I like how Lale describes this experience ‘how can some one do this to another human being’ he wonders then and for the rest of his life. Yet being tattooed was only the start of the atrocities these men and women would suffer.
I love a good true story and definitely will enjoy one from this perspective.
