Reviewing this book is difficult because of the fact it's based on a true story but the real Lale Sokolov worked on the book as well made the book feel more emotive as you're more aware of the fact that this is not a work of fiction.

I was instantly dedicated to finding out how Lale's story would end as with any book based during the Holocaust, you can find either a happy ending or a heart-wrenching ending. The people that Lale met throughout the story were people who I wanted to find out about as well such as Gita and Cilka.

This harrowing true story is one that will stay with you and it's suitable for younger ages as compared to other holocaust books, it doesn't share the awful, brutal truths that occurred but still manages to highlight the trauma that the victims suffered.

The fact that the book was not all action, as some chapters it was more of a waiting game, it highlighted the fact that the victims of the Holocaust did not know what was going to happen; whether they were going to live another day.
