This is a book which is set during the second world war, focusing on the story of Lale, who is a Jewish man. I have always found stories about the war and concentration camps interesting, so on seeing the title and the cover of this book I knew that it was one that I would enjoy.
In this book, it shows a different side to the concentration camps to which I have read before, as there are subtle humorous parts which really makes you realise that these are real people that are being written about, and you can see the different coping mechanisms that people have when dealing with a horrible situation.
I loved how real this book was, and how easy it was to read - I didn't put it down. Really thought provoking book that I would recommend to anyone who likes this genre.
