It was heartbreaking, compelling and utterly amazing story.
I can't for 1 minute put myself in Lale's position and relate to what he went through. I couldn't stop reading it, and I really want to read Cilka's Journey, has anyone read it?
You learn a lot about WW2 in school, but this I found so interesting, such a different point of view with unexpected circumstances. Lale becomes a tattooist in order to survive, but his position gives him some benefits, but he used these benefits to help his friends and the woman he loves.
This is not a downbeat story. The strength of the humans spirit and Lale's hope and optimism for his future with Gita is amazing and warmed my heart so much.
I nearly cried at the end (of happiness) due to everything he went through, to get his happy ending was so for-filling and heart warming.
A story of hope, love, hate, regret and survival.
