“If you wake up in the morning, it’s a good day”
I absolutely loved this book. It follows the love story of Lale and Gita while being in Auschwitz; I literally finished it within a day as the story grabbed me straight away, despite the content being sensitive and dark. The writing is done perfectly, grabbing the reader while also providing lots of information and harsh realities of what life was like for them.
It’s quite a positive story in a strange way, showing that no matter what you can find love despite the circumstances and despite where you are in life. It broke my heart multiple times and yet it’s one of my favourite books. All of the ‘characters’ are so well written and you finish the book feeling like you genuinely did know these people personally. The author did such an amazing job on this book, it must have been so hard for her to get all the information and resources and of course the interviews but she nailed it. Definitely a 5 star read!!
