It’s always harrowing to read about anything to do with concentration camps, yet as often is the case, real human nature shines through. This book seems to be no exception. Written almost bluntly (you can’t sugar coat such atrocities) yet you still get a hopeful feeling of what is in store for this determined and very brave young man! This is a topic I find deeply moving yet fascinating because of such stories of hope and perseverance. These times are barely any time ago at all and yet such large scale evil and prejudice seem such an alien concept to us only 75 years on. It is these examples of grit and strength that keep these people in our memories. This is a book I will definitely go on to read in full.
