I enjoyed reading this book, although it did take me several attempts before really getting into it. The story of Lale & Gita, was truly harrowing but I personally struggled with the story telling and the prose. The author clearly has a lot of talent and as such I think it is simply a personal dislike.
The story moved at quite a good pace. I was disappointed to learn that the story is historically inaccurate, but that is irrelevant as the significance of the time period and related events should always be acknowledged.
It seemed like there were parts of the story that were rushed in order to get the book finished which is a real shame because there are aspects of this book that are really good.
I would say that it is worth a read in terms of the time period but I think there are other, relatively similar books that would be higher on my reading list.
