An interesting book. The writer has tapped in to the current trend for psychological dramas and for a debut this is a fair attempt.
The setting, an old boarding school, was intriguing and I found I could easily imagine the corridors, grounds, classrooms and surroundings. I particularly enjoyed this element of the book.
The style of the book gives two different viewpoints. One of a journalist trying to uncover the mystery - a unique idea and one of the person involved in the mystery. The story changes between the two but with decent sections by each so that it does not jump around too much.
The story was not too predictable - I wasn't 100% sure of what the outcome would be as I went along but I'm not sure it really offered me anything different from a lot of dramas.
I liked the characters but by the end I was a little bored of the pretensions both of some of the characters and of the book itself. A little less about death and hearts and skulls and love and what it all means might have made for a punchier read.
