I used my built up points to get this book so didn't read a first impression which may be why this didn't live up to my expectations. I thought the book was focus more on the 'affair' as it was happening, with more detail about Louisa and Victoria's relationship with Mr Lavelle and how it developed. I didn't feel like I knew enough about any of them to understand their feelings towards each other.
The book felt rushed and without enough detail at the same time to me.
I enjoyed hearing about the events from the journalists perspective however, this was a interesting way to tell the story and I liked that we got the story from Louisa's perspective so it wasn't clear that she was dead until the end.
Overall I enjoyed the book but it wouldn't be something I would reread.
