I personally love a good book that is based around a historical event, so this book is my cup of tea. It was easy to get into at the start, you could feel the excitement if a promising new start for the sisters, however the disaster strikes, which does give the story an emotional twist, from losing one character to seeing how the other character rebounds.

I did like how the book was written, it was descriptive and made it easy to imagine everything that was happening. The pace of the story seemed good, nothing was draw out too long or brushed over too quickly. However, it was slightly too predictable. A few more plot twists here and there would have made the story a little more engaging at times, even if the outcomes were the same.

Overall, I would read more books by the author, however this one left me wanting just a bit more out of the book, it was so close to being a perfect novel for me, but fell short about half-way through.
