I read the First looks for this book and 'Into The Crooked Place' after being nagged for ages by one of my friends to try reading something other than murder mysteries or legal thrillers for once and I am so glad that I did.

The mention of a life-changing letter from America ends up being the main thing driving the plot forwards at the beginning, but soon enough we learn of the difficulties that arise for the two very different sisters, both of whom the novel revolves around, the main one being the sinking of the Titanic whilst they are on it and everything that they then encounter afterwards as a result. Throughout the novel, the reader watches as the two sisters grow and develop as people due to their eye-opening experiences, as well as how they change and are changed by the people around them.

A brilliant read and very different to what I'm used to, but definitely in a good way.
