I had this book on pre-order from Amazon, so received it on the day of publication. I began reading it that very same night.

The book is a bit rushed in places, especially when Thaddeus and his friends are returning to Develish after going out looking for food, one minute they are in an abandoned manor house....next thing being welcomed back to their home. I think it could have been padded out a bit more.

I have read most of Minette Walters books when I was younger, and always thought she was an excellent writer, and she's certainly not disappointed with this book, or it's prequel the Final Hours.

You really feel sorry for Lady Anne, she's desperately trying to keep her demense going, at the same time as trying to deal with a grief stricken, out of control daughter.

Well worth the read.
