Unfortunately I didn’t realise that this was the second book in a series until after I’d started reading it . The first one is called The Lady Hours. This isn’t an author I had heard of before either so it was great to discover a new one with writing I enjoyed!
Within the first few pages I was transported back to the Middle Ages during the devastating period of The Black Death. The descriptions were vivid and the writing really pulled me in.
There are a few main characters in this book and I feel I connected well with them . The author has done a great job of allowing the reader to really understand each personality.
I really appreciated the historical research that went into this novel and found the story very authentic and convincing.
I enjoyed the action scenes the battles and the narrative flow was perfect.
Overall I enjoyed this book and would like the chance to read the first book just to gain a little bit more understanding of the back story.
