I loved the locations used within this book - Iceland and Greenland are such interesting places with such fascinating histories that we learn little about in the U.K. It was great to learn about the history while reading a book set in current times.

I like Magnus as a character - he wasn’t a typical policeman in many ways. Particularly not the sort who are at the centre of a series of novels. It felt like there was more to him than that. I also enjoyed the fact he was quite reliant on one of the other main police officers who was a female.

The struggles of Vigdis to be accepted as Icelandic because of the colour of her skin was also an interesting additional dimension and gave the book more depth.

The different plot lines and characters’ viewpoints were well-written and interwoven with just enough clues that as a reader you could feel a little smarter than the detectives for working it all out quicker than them.

Overall, an enjoyable read and I would definitely consider reading some of the others in the series next time I want a crime novel!
