I was suprised and intrigued when I learned that this novel was written by ITV's Policital Editior Robert Peston. This was his first book, and hopefully the first of a few. It is incredibly fitting considering the massive role the government and journalists play within this book - with Peston being a journalist himself. I feel this book is targeted towards a wide range of people, wether you are invested in politics or only aware of the basics, this book offers an interesting insight into the dangers of accessing the governments secrets, but also the power it gives you. Gil finds out that some secrets are better left alone and unknown.

The relationship bewteeen Gil and Clare as estranged siblings, adds a sense of relatability to this thriller. Having the reader question whether they would go to the same lengths for their sibling/s.
