Throughout the whole of the first chapter I had Robert Preston's very distinctive voice echoing in my ears and it felt a little bizarre to be reading a work of fiction written by the journalist who is very upfront in his political career. Hence, it's not surprising that the book keeps returning to the political environment, however there were times when I found this somewhat tedious and long winded. with what I were dull and monotonous overtones. However, and despite this I found myself getting engrossed in the main story line, that of the suspected murder of the fictional journalists sister. a situation which was at first passed off as an accident is in fact hiding more sinister events. Peston does write with an ease which makes the story easy to follow and he develops characters which are pretty believable. I'm glad I read the book but I might stick to watching him on TV!
