The whistleblower is a political thriller by Robert Peston. I found the story hard to get into at first but after a few chapters I was gripped, it is worth persevering with. Gil Peck is a journalist, his estranged sister Clare dies after a bicycle accident but Gil believes it was no accident. Clare worked for the government and knows most of the sensitive secrets. She was working on a pension fund tax project which was shutdown even though could raise funds. Gil starts to investigate and finds out more secrets and when things also start to happen to him and people try to shut him up he believes he is on to something. With the help of Jess they continue to push the boundaries, putting his career and health in jeopardy as at times he comes to the wrong conclusions. It is full of twists and turns as the story links politics, finance and the media.
