The first instalment in the series (Cruel Prince) came onto my radar last year and I immediately fell in love with the series. When I finally read the Wicked King I wasn’t disappointed and I can’t believe I have to wait a whole year for the next instalment in the series. This book was incredible and kept me on my toes. This has become one of my top favourite series and thanks to Holly Black all I want to read now are faerie inspired books for the rest of my life. The story was gripping and kept me on my toes at all times. The political intrigue and many plot twists made this story so exciting and maybe even better that the first book.
As for Cardan (who everyone loves to hate and hates to love), my feelings for him have become so mixed that I’ve no idea what to think of him anymore. Just when I thought I made up my mind about him, he went and did something to change my opinion of him once more. That’s what I love about Holly Black’s storytelling. It’s a complete rollercoaster of emotions and I absolutely adore it.
