This book was fantastic! Cardan (the new king of Elfhame) is now under Jude's power, as she betrayed him and crowned him. A romance starts to bloom between the pair and I really like the tension, as they appear to hide their feelings for one another. Jude's character development is phenomenal and there is more focus on the good in Cardan. I love how there is a wide range of characters as well as politics involved, which makes the book even more diverse. This book is full of mysteries, betrayals and murders. I adore the fact that Jude is portrayed as strong and powerful rather than Cardan - she isn't the 'weak' one because she is female. My only wish in regards to this trilogy is for it to consist of more books. After finishing the trilogy and wanting more details about Cardan, Holly Black made this come to life in "How the King of Elfhame Learned to Hate Stories".
