At first, I was hesitant to read The Cruel Prince and The Wicked King, as I had recently finished the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard - I did not believe anything could add up to that series!! However, immediately I was hooked on The Cruel Prince; I finished it in a day! Thankfully, I had The Wicked King to hand straight after, which is honestly one of the best books I have ever read. The ending is, however, infuriating!! I suggest you have the third book, The Queen of Nothing, to hand when you finish.
The book can be difficult to follow at times, especially if you know little about faeries - like me - but eventually you settle into the flow of the book. In addition, it's sweet to see the characters develop, especially as you see Jude become more independent and strong.
I would 100% recommend this book to you if you are a fan of Maggie Stiefvater's Books of Faerie, or Victoria Aveyard's Red Queen series. Furthermore, if you're a fan of either of these series' I will you to read this book!!
