Thank you so much to Readers First for my copy of The Wicked King by Holly Black. I was so excited to get it early and I read in only 2 hours, a new record for me!
Please note this review is spoiler free, however it will contain some spoilers for The Cruel Prince so if you've not read it yet, don't read on!
Jude has successfully put Cardan on the throne as her puppet, he's sworn to obey her for a year and a day. But being right hand woman (and controller) of the high king of Faerie is no easy feat. War is stirring and everyone Jude trusts seems out to betray, or even kill her. And of course Jude is incredibly vulnerable on account of the fact she's mortal and living in a world full of tricksters, poisoners and frankly just dangerous folk.
Oh yeah and then there's all that pent up sexual tension between Jude and Cardan as well which makes everything just that little bit more complicated....
In a word, The Wicked King was FANTASTIC I was expecting to enjoy it obviously but this much?!! it was so fast paced, the world immersion was perfect and the twist at the end has left me feeling like I need the third book in my hands RIGHT NOW!
