Holly Black is continuing the story of Jude, a human in Faerie Land, and Cardan the Wicked King from the first book in the series ‘The Cruel Prince ‘.
Again the story is well written and the plot grabs your attention very quickly and keeps you reading just a little more. The plot contains treachery, politics, love, murder and betrayal. Most of the characters are well constructed with adequate backgrounds except some of the new additions who will perhaps feature in the next book with more explanations.
The book leaves you wanting the sequel now as there’s a lot of unresolved issues.
I can happily recommend this novel and series to not only the young adult readers it’s aimed at but also any reader who enjoys a flight of fancy.
