This books is a blend of The Crown and Miss Marple, by way of John Le Carre. It tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and how she solved the murder of a visitor to Windsor Castle. This is a clever, interesting novel that does not pan out as I expected. As previously stated, it is a blend of The Crown, Miss Marple and John Le Carre. I was expecting the first two but not the latter - and interesting I love the first two of these comparisons but not the latter and therefore I have rated this 4 stars as I wasn't sure about the spy aspect of the book.
The mystery was well plotted and the characters were all likeable. I loved the titbits about other members of the Royal family, this was very amusing. The original characters in this book were also very good, in particular to the Queen's sidekick!
This book really portrayed the Queen in a positive way and I felt was very respectful. While the premise sounds particularly amusing, it was done in a very respectful and serious way!
