When I first read the premise of this novel, I knew it was going to be for me. I think it's such a fantastic idea to have the Queen as a detective that solves mysteries. It's obvious that the author is a big fan of the Royals, really admires the Queen and there was so much research completed for this book. Since the book takes place in the past, it talked about events that had already occurred and had the Queen solving the murder of a young man in between all those events.

The addition of a woman of colour as the Queen's secretary was great as well. This book is very diverse when it comes to all the characters and I think they're all very well-written and distinct. However, the one problem I had with the book was that I thought the actual mystery was a little bit lacking. I liked how it wrapped up, but it seemed like it was overshadowed by the life of the royals. I'll still be picking up the sequel and I hope the mystery is a bit more prevalent in the next novel.
