I was a little disappointed in this. I'm not sure what I was expecting.... something along the lines of an Ealing comedy script, with the queen sneaking round the corridors of Buckingham Palace at night, clutching a magnifying glass and a fingerprint kit.
But in real life, being queen is a full time job, mountains of paperwork, public appearances, meet and greets, and hosting dinners. And it's at one such dinner that a young musician is killed.
The queen's 'sleuthing' merely consists of getting one of her private secretaries to ask the right questions of the right people. Because the people who should be asking the right questions, aren't. The security detail want to arrest any member of staff with the slightest connection to Russia, and MI5 are convinced it's all to do with spies.
The big reveal was a bit lame, with the queen dropping the right hints to the right people so that they can take the credit and end up on the honours list.
To be honest, for me, the best bits were the private conversations between the queen and Philip, especially when he was off on one of his rants
