I love reading about people in castles, so picking up this book - revolving around Queen Elizabeth and a page-turning mystery - was a no-brainer. The murder of Maksim presents the main conflict in the book, and the story follows Queen Elizabeth's journey to solving the crime.

The book was amazing - I was hooked from the start. I don't think there was ever a point I felt that things got a little boring or slow, and for books like this, that tends to happen a lot for me. I love the realism of it in the inclusion of political figures, including Obama.

The premise is really unique because I don't think anyone thinks of Queen Elizaneth as being this sleuth, secret detective type of person, but it works surprisingly well in this context. It didn't feel off-putting or out of place at all. The police seem to think the queen is an elderly woman who doesn't know what's going on, and there's some satisfaction in knowing how wrong they are about that.

I love the author's sense of humor. It made me laugh in some places. The writing style fits perfectly. A good book overall.
